Chillers
There is no question how important chillers are in the commercial HVAC world, from keeping athletes and sports enthusiasts cool during the most critical moments of the game, to assuring that food always stays fresh for supermarkets across the country. Our certified HVAC technicians are experts at identifying any problem that may arise in any type of chiller. Whether it’s air-cooled packaged or water-cooled packaged, air-cooled modular or water-cooled modular, or air-cooled split systems, Pilar Home Services can handle it for you. Cooling Towers
Unlike Chillers which use refrigerants, cooling towers rely on water to dispel heat from the HVAC system. Closed-loop cooling towers operate similarly to open-loop towers except there is a heat exchanger coil within the tower that separates the cooling tower water from the building cooling water. The 3 main types of cooling towers used today are crossflow, counterflow, and hyperbolic. Choosing the right cooling system for your facility can be overwhelming due to the variety of products available in today’s market; let our commercial HVAC experts assist you with making the right decision.
Heat Exchangers
The heat exchanger is a system used to transfer heat between two or more fluids in the HVAC system. Heat exchangers are used in both cooling and heating processes. The fluids may be separated by a solid wall to prevent mixing or they may be in direct contact. There are 3 main types of heat exchangers. Plate and frame, shell and tube, and scraped surface. Routine service must be done to prolong the life of these units; cleaning the plates regularly and even replacing gaskets when needed to prevent leaks.
Heat Pumps
When we are talking about pumps, we are talking about fluid transfer. The most commonly used pump in HVAC today, is the centrifugal pump. Like any major contributor to the HVAC system, pumps need to be routinely serviced. Our certified HVAC technicians will monitor the bearing temperatures and lubricant levels, inspect mechanical seals, maintain adequate pump discharge pressure, and assess the pump for any excessive vibration.
For clients with moderate heating and cooling needs, heat pumps offer an energy-efficient alternative to furnaces and air conditioners. Heat pumps use electricity to transfer warm air from a cool area to a warm area, making the cool area cooler and the warm area warmer. Due to the fact that they move heat instead of creating it, Heat Pumps can actually generate a quarter of the energy costs in comparison to a standard HVAC system.
Computer Room Equipment
Computer room air conditioning (CRAC) has become a critical and steadily growing component of the HVAC industry. With computer technology replacing even the most basic human tasks, data preservation has become a higher priority than financial safeguarding. Most technology companies rely heavily on servers to house all of their confidential information, as well as their customer’s confidential information.
At Pilar Services, we have recruited specialists specifically to address any computer room or server room, service, and design needs for your business. We offer in-row cooling systems, below-floor cooling systems, spot coolers, and more. To see how we can help, contact us to speak to a CRAC specialist.
Refrigeration
Making sure your perishables don’t spoil is just as important as making sure your customers don’t sweat. Our refrigeration experts service and install all types of walk-in boxes, ice machines, and low temp freezers. Our 24-hour emergency service could mean the difference between saving an entire inventory of expirable products and keeping your investment safe. If you are experiencing refrigeration failure, get in touch with Pilar Services for your immediate service!
Air Handlers
More than 3 decades of experience in commercial HVAC has granted us the knowledge and expertise to excel in this fiercely competitive industry. Our commercial HVAC clients have different needs and require specific details with HVAC system/air handler configurations. We offer variable frequency drive (VFD) to enhance energy efficiency, variable air volume (VAV) Systems, rooftop packaged units, energy recovery units, indoor units, and more. Any special request can be fulfilled, and any challenge is accepted.
Fans
Whether you are concerned about harmful toxins, odors, or excess humidity, there is a fan for every occasion. Inline duct fans are primarily used to expel heat and humidity from large spaces; they can also be found in closet systems hosting servers and AV equipment. Return fans pull air from the space that is to be heated or cooled, filtering out any dust and dander as well as removing excess moisture before it returns to the home to complete the HVAC cycle. Exhaust fans are most commonly used in restaurant applications; they work to pull hot air, grease, oil, smoke, contaminated air, and other particulate matter up through the hood filters and restaurant vent hood and duct systems. Let our HVAC experts help you decide which type of fan system is best for your business.
Filtration Systems
When it comes to purifying your air, there is a wide variety of products we use to meet the requirements of your business. Specializing in both water and air filtration systems, Pilar Services has a solution for all. We carry everything from electrostatic air filters to entire ducted smoke removal systems with HEPA and Carbon. HVAC systems that utilize water must be properly maintained to avoid corrosion and scale build-up and could require more attention. Well-maintained systems will reduce the cost of energy and prolong the life of the equipment, saving your company an unnecessary ton of money in the future.
Terminal Units
The choice for modern buildings; air terminal units control the primary air volume to a zone through the use of a primary air valve that contains an inlet, damper, and controller. VAV (Variable Air Volume) units are the simplest and most cost-effective type of terminal units, but this doesn’t mean that they don’t require service. VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume), also referred to as VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) are the most sophisticated of all terminal units and certainly requires service at least once per year.
Energy Efficiency Auditing
Operating costs are key to making sure any business remains lucrative. As in any HVAC system, our energy efficiency pros can spot the source of the problem draining your pockets and immediately make the necessary repairs or recommendations needed to lower your operating costs.
HVAC Controls
Very simply put, HVAC controls consist of devices that control the operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. These controls can be used in small residential applications or extremely complex large-scale commercial applications. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has found that about 40% of energy costs for the average commercial building are spent on heating, cooling, and ventilation. Automation controls can cut this cost in half by scheduling and regulating HVAC functions and performance.
UV Lights
Ultra-violet lights are key to fighting bacteria and mold build-up in your commercial HVAC system. Actively disinfecting and maintaining your building HVAC system can result in as much as 20% less energy consumption by the HVAC system, resulting in much lower energy costs and prolonged equipment life. With UV lights, you can count on less chemical cleaning which is safer for the environment and your customers. UV systems are available for in-duct, on-coil, and in-room.
